Congratulations to U16AAA Goalie Tyson McMahon, the recipient of Joey Delwo Award.
The bursary was set up to honour Joey Delwo who tragically passed away in 2017. The family decided that in lieu of flowers they would create a bursary for minor hockey and help youngsters pursuing hockey — a huge passion for Delwo, who manned the crease for the Nickel Caps and Junior Wolves.

“This award is offered to a player that has a love for the game and encourages teamwork, sportsmanship and hard work. Joey was a goaltender for most of his years and we, his family, implemented this fund in his honour after his passing in 2017.”Joey’s family (including his widow, parents and aunt and uncle) were on hand to award this bursary which was incredibly special for Tyson and his family. Both Tyson, his mother and grandmother stated that “We are so grateful for this award and so honoured to be a part of Joey’s legacy”.“It is amazing to see Joey Delwo’s family giving back to our hockey community,” said Jason Innis, President of the Sudbury Minor Hockey Association, “we want to give a special thank you to Joey’s family who have continued to honour Joey through their support of kids playing hockey.”
